I have watched this video countless times trying to decide what car is better. I like the MR2 for mid engine turbo reasons, But RX7 looks so fucking good.

I’d only go with a JDM post-1994 MR2. Those things were monsters. Almost bought one instead of the RX7, but I needed more space so... Rx7 it was!

bah, I’ve had both MR2 Turbos and there’s not a world of difference in them if you put a boost controller on the earlier one. The latter model has better breaks but imho worse rear suspension set up.

Not as fun if your bum doesn’t take chunks out of the seat every time you go through a wet roundabout.

I drove one in the US and test drove one in Japan, the japanese one was noticeably more powerful.

After a quick wikipedia check, JDM post 1994 MR2 are rated at 242hp vs 200hp in the US and europe. All turbos in Japan were fitted with a LSD too, which was only an option in the US

oh of course, the North American ones are nerfed but I don’t live there so I haven’t tried one out. Europe didn’t get a turbo, just the 3SGE which is fun in it’s own right.

Both mine were JDM so there’s only ~20kw difference between them. My 90 had an aftermarket LSD in it when it was imported anyway.

Oh you meant between the 1990/1993 and a 1994/1999 Mr2, sorry, I thought you were comparing it with USDM ones :)

Yeah I guess there isn’t much difference but I’d want a post-1994 anyway, question of principles haha

It’s not really about which one is best, they’re all very different cars for different reasons. The 300ZX more of a luxury car than the other two, and the MR2 more about agility and driveability than outright speed. And isn’t the RX7 a bit long in the tooth by this video?

But still, the 300ZX is the clear winner. It’s more powerful, faster and more luxurious than the other two. And it’s more expensive too. It’s a better car.

I traded my 300ZX for an MR2 because I wanted something lighter and sharper. And that’s fine :P

PS. Those pearl yellow 300ZXs are very rare. Interesting that that’s the car they’d use for the video.
